CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS:
Focus group on responsible AI training provision for the cultural heritage community
February – June 2025 | Duration: 4 hours, incl. breaks and refreshments | London, Edinburgh, Oxford | Bursaries available
Are you a cultural heritage professional, an Arts and Humanities researcher working with cultural heritage data, a Research Software Engineer, Data Scientist, or a professional working in industry and collaborating closely with cultural heritage data in the UK?
We’d love to hear from you!
Dr Anna-Maria Sichani, a BRAID UK Research Fellow and a Digital Humanities Research Associate at the School of Advanced Study, University of London, is leading a project (in partnership with The Turing Institute) on responsible AI digital skills provision for the cultural heritage community.
The project “Responsible data, models and workflows: Responsible AI digital skills provision for the cultural heritage community” will investigate the training needs in responsible AI within the UK cultural heritage community. By adopting a community-driven approach, this project seeks to bring together a network of stakeholders concerned with responsible AI within the UK cultural heritage sector to collaboratively assess the current training needs and co-develop a comprehensive, yet flexible, digital skills training provision that encompasses key aspects of AI, responsible data documentation and stewardship, data models, workflows, copyright and data privacy, tailored specifically to the needs of professionals and researchers working with cultural heritage data. Outputs of this research will be an accessible, user-friendly responsible AI training workbench and a collaborative white paper with recommendations on responsible AI training provision for the cultural heritage community. This research has been assessed and approved by the University of London Research Ethics Committee, and assigned the reference number SASREC_2425-1452-R.
Dr Anna-Maria Sichani is looking for focus group participants to take part in the project and to discuss how we can better develop and embed a comprehensive digital skills training provision for responsible AI for the cultural heritage community to empower informed, responsible and ethical use of AI. No prior technical knowledge of AI systems or tools is needed, but interest or experience in the topic is desirable. We are happy to be able to offer travel bursaries to participants up to £250 and to cover accessibility costs (incl childcare) if needed.
If you are a cultural heritage professional, an Arts and Humanities researcher working with cultural heritage data, a Research Software Engineer, Data Scientist, or a professional working in industry and collaborating closely with cultural heritage data in the UK and you are interested in participating, please complete this brief form!
