Join us at the Weston Library on Friday October 25th to learn more about the innovative work taking place in digital scholarship in the Bodleian Libraries and across the University of Oxford.
Meet the teams shaping discussions around digital scholarship and preview upcoming training sessions and events designed to enhance your research skills and knowledge.
The event will feature presentations from key teams and include a tea and coffee break.
Programme
The programme includes presentations from the following teams:
Centre for Digital Scholarship (CDS)
The Centre for Digital Scholarship is a hub for translating innovative digital technologies into multidisciplinary academic practice and public engagement. The centre engages academics, students, staff and the public with digital methods.
The CDS programme of events and training supports study and research skills in digital scholarship and connects the Bodleian Libraries with digital scholarship projects both nationally and internationally.
The CDS encompasses multiple key services, including:
Sustainable Digital Scholarship (SDS) Service
This service safeguards the legacy of research at Oxford by ensuring research outputs remain findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable for years to come. SDS provides advice on digital sustainability and offers a solution for storing, publishing, and sustaining research data through the SDS platform, an online open-access repository.
Electronic Enlightenment
In collaboration with Bodleian Digital Library Systems and Services, Electronic Enlightenment offers high-quality academic digital editions of over 70,000 letters from the 17th to the 19th centuries, along with a bespoke biographical database of over 10,000 correspondents.
Bodleian Student Editions
Bodleian Student Editions is a long-running collaboration between Early Modern Letters Online, Electronic Enlightenment, and the Bodleian Library Special Collections, inviting students to take part in regular hands-on sessions transcribing, annotating, and creating metadata for a selection of 18th century letters.
Digital Scholarship @Oxford (DiSc)
Funded by the University's Strategic Research Fund, Digital Scholarship @Oxford is an initiative that aims to transform the landscape of digitally-enhanced scholarship at the University of Oxford. DiSc organise events, publicise opportunities for researchers interested in digital scholarship, and support network-building across the university.
