Academic Director of Digital Scholarship.
Based in the Humanities Division as Academic Director of the Digital Scholarship at Oxford initiative (DiSc), David is also Professor of e-Research in the Department of Engineering Science. His work is distinctively interdisciplinary and reaches beyond humanities into social sciences, engineering, computer science, and libraries and archives. He has been involved in running the Digital Humanities at Oxford Summer School since 2011. David co-founded the Centre for Practice & Research in Science & Music (PRiSM) at the Royal Northern College of Music, as well as the national Software Sustainability Institute and the PETRAS Centre of Excellence in IoT Cybersecurity. He is also a Turing Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute, and his personal research is at the intersection of music, machines and AI, empowering the creative human in music composition and performance.
